Hong Kong Market Place Celebrates 40 Years of Family, Food and Culture
Published on October 08, 2026
For 40 years, Hong Kong Market Place has been more than a place to shop. It's been a gathering place where families connect, cultures are celebrated and traditions are passed from one generation to the next. This October, the beloved North Texas business is celebrating four decades of family, food, culture and community.
Founded in Arlington in 1986, Hong Kong Market Place began its journey serving the growing Asian community in North Texas. After expanding to Dallas in 1997, the business relocated its original Arlington location to Grand Prairie in 2008, becoming the anchor of Asia Times Square.
Today, Asia Times Square is a destination for shopping, dining and cultural celebrations, welcoming visitors from across North Texas and beyond. Through its commitment to preserving traditions and promoting cultures, it has become an important part of Grand Prairie's diverse community.
For the Loh family, the 40th anniversary represents much more than a business milestone. It's a celebration of the relationships built with employees, vendors, customers and community partners throughout the years.
Generations of families have made Hong Kong Market Place part of their lives, with customers who once visited as children now returning with their own children and grandchildren.
As the Loh family shared in their anniversary announcement, "The greatest thing we've built over these 40 years isn't a grocery store, it's relationships."
That spirit of connection continues through Asia Times Square and its mission of "Preserving Traditions, Promoting Cultures."
