Grand Prairie Historical Museum Wins Grant

The Texas Lakes Trail is pleased to announce that the Grand Prairie Historical Museum won a $500 grant at the Annual Conference. The award was presented during the Texas Lakes Trail Annual Conference at the Arlington Music Hall on Monday, November 6, 2023.

This grant will help fund special projects, events, and programs to promote heritage tourism within the region. These grants are designed to promote public awareness of the history of the Texas Lakes Trail Region, encourage community involvement and participation, and enhance the visitor experience.

Along with winning this grant, two other grants were also awarded to the Bonham Visitor Center and to the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau for their work in promoting Heritage Tourism.

To be eligible to apply for these three annual grants, requirements include: must be a current partner or affiliated with a partner of the Texas Historical Commission Trail Region. Applicant must be a 501c3, 501c6, or a government entity. The Heritage Tourism requested project must be within the 31 counties of the Texas Lakes Trail Region and must be open and accessible to the general public. The grant funds may not be used for brick and mortar/capital improvement purchases, operating expenses, used for an individual use and may not advocate politics or religion.
