Experience the adventures of a nature get-a-way without venturing far from the metroplex. On the west shore of Joe Pool Lake, Loyd Park covers about 791 acres of native Texas landscape. Loyd Park is in a peaceful tree-filled setting right on the lake but is centrally located - camping is conveniently close to major DFW attractions. Individual campsites are large (avg 1000 sq ft.), and each one has a picnic table and pavilion, grill, fire ring, and more Texas tranquility than you can handle.

Camping

Mature native Texas trees cover the lake side property. Whether you are looking for a campsite for your tent or RV or staying in one of our plush cabins. The scenery at Loyd Park makes you feel as if you are miles away from the city.

Campsites

We have 213 concrete pads complete with 30 amp electric and water hookups. Each site also has a picnic pavilion, table, grill, and fire ring.

At Loyd Park, if you have a favorite campsite in the trees or by the lake you can make reservations by campsite number. Come out to the park before 10 p.m. and select your specific site on a map and it is yours!

Campsites have a 14 day use limit and a maximum of 2 vehicles and 8 campers per campsite. There is a limit of no more than 1 wheeled camping unit at each campsite.

Group Campsites

Have a group and need a place to stay? We have several large pavilions surrounded by 10 individual sites with water and electricity. These group sites are available for $175 per night plus vehicle entry fee.

Yurts

Enjoy the most popular glamping experience that is sweeping the globe conveniently located within the DFW metroplex. This luxurious overnight retreat accommodates two and is perfect for couples. Amenities include an above-ground propane fire pit on a paved seating area with outdoor furniture, walk-in shower with rain shower head, quartz countertops, cooktop and microwave, satellite TV, high-end luxury furniture, queen bed, skylight, heat and air conditioning, private deck, and much more! The two Yurts located in Loyd Park are perfect for a couple’s getaway and accommodate up to two guests.

Walnut Creek Paddling Trail

  • This 4.9-mile trail offers a spectacular outdoor experience for nature lovers, outdoor recreation enthusiasts, families, and paddlers of all skill levels (children should be accompanied by an adult). Once you reach the Highway 360 overpass, turn around and enjoy the lazy current and prevailing southerly wind on your paddle back!
